What is Migrant Sex Worker Justice?
It is anti-racist, gender justice, it is economic justice, it is prison abolition, it is migrant rights. It is the intersection of sex workers' rights and status for all. It is worker-led resistance to the false narrative that all migrant sex workers are exploited victims of trafficking in need of rescue rather than powerful workers who have been organizing for their rights.
For Butterfly, Migrant Sex Worker Justice has been over 10 years of grassroots mobilization amongst Asian and migrant sex workers and massage workers. A platform for workers’ voices to name the harms of anti-trafficking and advocacy to teach service providers how to meet their needs. Most critically, we are a support network to meet each others needs within the highly stigmatized, over surveilled and multiply criminalized context of being racialized sex workers without immigration status. We work with the sex worker rights movement to decriminalize sex work and the migrant rights movement to fight for status for all.
